Former Western Costume employee Ronnie Beard tours the costume house with a video camera in hand. Over two days in 1986, he visits each department,showing the staff at work and speaking with them about the productions they are working on. At the time, Western was located at 5335 Melrose Ave. in a building that would be demolished only a few years after this video was made. Enjoy this insider's tour of the company--and maybe spot a few familiar faces.

1986 Ronnie begins his tour in the research library, where Sally Nelson-Harb is hard at work. He next introduces executive assistant Marcie Brown; Rosie Billingsley, the switchboard operator; and accountant David DeWeese. He catches Men's Rental Department heads George Santander and Jim Leetch between phone calls, then heads to talk to Ben Saffren and James Cabello in the Shipping Department. Men's costumer Roger Faustino lists some projects he's busy with, then Ronnie heads to the tailor shop.

1986 Ronnie Beard continues his tour of Western, introducing Jeff Lejoie who is busy pulling vests. Next, we have a look around the fabric store where meet Gail Hemphill and Mike Higa. We see Ken Ovard restocking costumes, and David Davison writing orders for Masters of the Universe and a jean commercial. Lastly, tailor Ruben Rubalcava discusses his workroom and current projects.

1986 Next on our tour, we meet costumer Mitch Kenney on his final day at Western Costume. Ronnie then introduces some of the men's department staff and visits the laundry room. The next stop is A Dying Art, an affiliate company within Western, who do the dying for much of the industry. Ronnie returns to the rental aisles and the sizing room, then makes his way to the reception desk, where we meet Angie.

1986 Ronnie starts in the parking lot, then returns inside to speak with Leonie Desielvie and Eddie Baron in the Hat Shop. Subsequent stops include Mark Weitzman, Bert Granite, and Les Aubin.

1986 We first meet costumer Matt Hoffman, then Ronnie heads to the School Department where Bill Burchette and Ken Ovard are busy at work. We then visit Al Campos in the Leather Shop and stop in the Ladies' Workroom. Ronnie makes his way to the second floor to the women's rental department where he speaks with his daughter, costumer Linda Beard, and her colleague, Barbara Whitaker. Our last stop is the Ladies' Workroom, where head Draper and Fitter Tzetzi Ganev introduces her staff and shows a costume being made for Dolly Parton.

1986 Ronnie's daughter, Linda Beard, and her coworker Gail Evans organize the ladies' hats. We next meet Jody Zacha, the head of ladies' wardrobe, and costumer Nava Sadan, who is working on the album cover for Trio, for Dolly Parton, Linda Rondstadt, and Emmylou Harris. Val Stewart shows us around the Prop Department, armor collection, and jewelry collection.

1986 Ronnie chats briefly with head of maintenance Bob Wigger. He next captures views of Hollywood from the rooftop of Western Costume, including Raleigh Studios and Paramount Pictures. He closes his tour with Edwina Pellikka, owner of A Dying Art, who is busy in the spray booth.
